Texas Roots
Texas didn't become the world's 8th largest economy by playing it safe. Neither did the founders we back.
Where We Come From
Texas didn't become the world's 8th largest economy by playing it safe. It got there the same way great companies do — through grit, independence, and an unshakeable belief that you can build something bigger than yourself.
Our founders are Texas through and through. We grew up in a culture where a handshake means something, where you show up before sunrise, and where the measure of a person is what they do — not what they say. That's not just where we're from. It's how we operate.
We partner with founders across the country, but our roots run deep in Texas soil. When you work with Alamar, you get the kind of partner this state has always produced: direct, dependable, and in it for the long ride.
The New Texas Economy
For a long time, the venture capital world operated on a simple assumption: capital flows from the coasts in, and founders who want the best funding move toward it. Texas founders knew the script — fly to San Francisco, pitch the fund, collect the check, and spend the next decade building toward a Silicon Valley exit.
That playbook is being rewritten. And Texas is holding the pen.
Texas is now home to more Fortune 500 headquarters than any other state. Tesla, Oracle, HP Enterprise, Charles Schwab, and CBRE have all relocated here in recent years. Toyota's North American headquarters is in Plano. These aren't political statements or tax arbitrage plays — they're decisions made by sophisticated operators who looked at talent density, regulatory climate, and business culture and chose Texas. When those companies move, the ecosystems follow.
The clearest signal of where Texas is headed is the Texas Stock Exchange — a new national exchange backed by BlackRock, Citadel Securities, and a coalition of major financial institutions, headquartered in Dallas. Not a satellite office. A full competitor to the NYSE and Nasdaq, built here. Texas isn't asking permission from Wall Street. It's building its own table.
Alamar is invested in this moment. The founders we back are building companies in a state that increasingly offers everything the coasts offered — with fewer headwinds, lower friction, and a culture that values results over pedigree. The Texas founder who once had to fly to Sand Hill Road for a serious conversation no longer has to. The capital is coming here. We already are here.
How We Operate
These aren't aspirational statements. They're the behavioral code we hold ourselves to on every deal, every call, every hard conversation.
We don't need 80 pages of legalese to keep our commitments. When we say we're in, we're in. We hold our partners to the same standard — and we expect it back.
We've sat in boardrooms full of people with opinions and no scar tissue. We'd rather show you what we've built than tell you what we know. Results speak loudest.
We say what we think. We hear what you're actually saying. No politics, no ego management — just the honest, straightforward conversation every founder deserves from their investor.
